December 31st, 2007 Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Fishing Reports
The last day of the year is here. Trout opens back up tomorrow and a cold front is moving through. This did not stop us from going out today. Working the back side of Orange Island in the Northern part of the Lagoon, we saw several fish... However none would bite. We moved up north to the boundary of the park and worked our way back down thru the creeks and oyster bars to the boat ramp. It was here the redfish were lurking. Hanging around the bars. Fishing with a D.O.A. shrimp pattern and using just a #4 circle hook... No weights. Work the bait slowly showing a week bait moving thru to be eaten by redfish! This also proves well for flounder, by moving the bait slow it allows the bait to drop to the bottom... And we all know what lurks on the bottom... yes Flounder! The trout bite today was slow but should pick back up later this week. We landed about 12 reds and about 9 trout. Now get out there and start fishing the New Year off right! Call today to book the trip of a lifetime with us. Have a great year and be safe. Florida Inshore Fishing Charters Site Map Captain Drew Cavanaugh |
