Florida Inshore Fishing

December 11th, 2007

Winter's low water levels are here and it looks like they will stay. The fishing in the upper parts of the River and almost all of the Mosquito Lagoon have changed in recent weeks. The abundant schools of finger  mullet that have been lurking about  for the past several months are now all but gone from the flats and have moved further south. Soon the redfish, along with other fish will be relying on a crab diet with shrimp  being their primary forage. Trout will also target shrimp and any bait fish that is still swimming around the flats. This is the perfect time to fish all day. Be very careful with the low water levels. You can no longer go into areas that were accessable a month ago, so move about the waters cautiously.
