December 12th, 2007 East Central Florida Fresh Water Fishing Reports
Well I changed things up today. Decided to hit a local lake and try for one of my favorite pan fish....Speck or crappie!!! What a day I had. First I picked up a few dozen minnows and headed of to the lake. Lake Joanna is a private lake in Lake county Florida here. I used a crappie jig with the spinner on it and tipped the jigs with a minnow. Then I went to about ten to twelve feet of water and with my trolling motor on slow, throw them out... I used up to three poles. Let it try to get down to different depths... One at 6 feet down, one at 4 feet down and one at 8 feet down. Just troll back and forth and wait for the rods to bend over. Monitor which depth and switch accordingly to that depth. Man what a day.... Caught 37... Very fun for kids and adults. These tactics will work on any lake almost here in east Central Florida. Remember to check the local rules for the area you are fishing and be sure to have a Florida freshwater license... I offer special bass fishing trips during the Florida seasons on private lakes as well. Some of the bass on the lakes reach in excess of ten pounds. Call for details.
