April 10th, 2008 Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon Fishing Reports

Today was classic. The fishing on the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Lagoon has been SUPER! With the weather warming up and the skies clearing, brings large amounts of bait fish. Today several red fish and several LARGE gator trout were boated. The red fish are being caught on small crabs, 1 or so inches across. Fly fishing the Mosquito Lagoon with a crab fly pattern will slam some action your way. The trout bite was all on Skitter Walk top waters, trout pattern. The key is to get out there early and stake your spot out. As Summer time approaches more and more boats will be on the water... So please use caution and be very polite. Remember a good distance to stay, run and fish from others is about 800 feet or so.
