April 4th, 2008 New Smyrna Beach and Ponce Inlet Fishing Reports The past weeks the fishing has been improving so much that you can feel it in the air around here. Florida fishing is awesome! With the warmer water temps and air temps, come more activity. Daily trips have been producing any where between 6-12 red fish and dozen or more trout. All are being caught on either live crabs, live mullet and live shrimp. Fly fishing is as always a staple on the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River year around. With an occasional fish or two being caught on plastics. D.O.A. is your best choice as always on the Mosquito Lagoon. The far north end of the New Smyrna Beach area has been the most productive by Ponce Inlet. Ponce Inlet fishing reports have been on fire. Cobia fishing is taking off as each day goes by. Follow the rays along the beaches and cast to the cobia along with a mixed bag of other fish. Big red fish are at the mouth of the inlet as well. Tarpon will start to show up in better numbers as summer time approaches. Florida Inshore Fishing Charters Site Map Captain Drew Cavanaugh |
