December 9th, 2007 -; Titusville and Cocoa Beach Fishing Guides Report

Just a couple of weeks before Christmas and here we are still in the 80's and it feels great outside. This is feeling like summer time weather here in central Florida. Now is the time to come to Florida and go flats fishing. There is no other place in the states for a winter time fishing vacation. You can't or would not want to fish Alaska right now! So fish the flats of the East Central Florida area for the best red fishing on the planet.

The bite has been really good for seatrout and redfish(red drum) here in east central Florida. Believe it or not you are still catching ladyfish in the area and jacks as well. These are species that migrate with the warmer waters and are typically not here at this time of year. I say global warming and the earth is changing. Just too many people here, like a football stadium, you have a capacity rating.

The fish have been hitting soft plastics all day long. D.O.A. is always the go to bait/lure for me, Baitbusters and CALS. Use the same tactics as been for the past few weeks. Slow and go with a soft presentation. Present it to the bottom so the fish can get it and take it, soft presentation as well.

The north end of the Mosquito Lagoon in the Oak Hill area has been great for red fish. Fly fishing in the New Smyrna Beach and Cocoa Beach areas has been hot! Hot Fish epic days for sure are every where with well placed flies. Maybe Santa will deliver some hand tied brown crab flies? You never know! A few more months until major tarpon fishing action! YES!

Please handle all of your fish with extreme care for the release. Remember catch and release is the future of Florida's fisheries.
