November 15th, 2007 Orlando and Central Florida Saltwater Sight Fishing Report

Today we had a cold front starting to approach. It was a unique day with going out and being able to catch fish all day on top water. The DOA Shallow Running Baitbuster in the color of red and white was the lure of the day. A few small spotted sea trout and then some very nice redfish were landed. Along with a few big bulls as well. This is the time of year Mosquito Lagoon redfish guides love fishing the Central Florida area.

Ponce Inlet has also been a great place to catch seatrout and redfish(red drum or channel bass). Fish the inlet using D.O.A. plastics for a mixed bag of fish. The Banana River on the south end has been great too.

Fly fishing still remains an element of the day. Down sized flies and accurate casts, along with soft presentations will bring in great action. Stick with natural fly patterns such as a black crab this time of year. A well rigged 7 or 8 weight fly fishing set up will work perfectly on the Indian River or the Mosquito Lagoon. Using size 4 flies in black or olive colors.

Black drum remain thick in the south end of the Mosquito Lagoon on the east bank of the refuge waters and backcountry flats. The key with them is to use stealth and put in a large dose of patience.

Again as always the north end by the Eldora House, Orange Island Creek and any area by the entrance to New Smyrna Beach's Canaveral National Seashore is a great choice too. This is a perfect spot for kayaks and canoes due to the shallow backcountry and the narrow passages every where.

Again as with every fishing trip you do handle all of your catch with extreme care for a high survival rate upon release. Catch and release is the wave of the future.
