January 8th, 2008 Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River Fly Fishing Report Today was the first really beautiful day of the New Year to be on the water. This is a great time of year with not only the fishing great but the play offs are on as well. Where else in the world can you go out and catch some saltwater inshore game fish and then get back in time to watch some football. All with great weather. Well we started out around 7a.m. and headed to the North West part of the Mosquito Lagoon. Twisting and turning through all the little creeks and islands we arrived at out destination to find the water like a sheet of glass... SMOOTH! Right of the bat we could spot several reds off in the distance, so we decided to pole towards them and see what might happen. As we started with fly fishing using a crab pattern fly on a 5 weight fly rod we could see this was going to work. Florida Inshore Fishing Charters Site Map Captain Drew Cavanaugh |
