December 9th, 2007 Titusville and Cocoa Beach Fishing Reports Just a couple of weeks before Christmas and here we are still in the 80's... This is feeling like summer time weather. Now is the time to come to Florida and go fishing. There is no other place in the states for a winter time fishing vacation. You can't or would not want to fish Alaska right now! So fish the flats of the East Central Florida area for the best red fishing on the planet. The bite has been really good for trout and red fish(red drum). Believe it or not you are still catching ladyfish in the area. I say global warming. The fish have been hitting soft plastics all day. D.O.A. is always the go to bait/lure for me. Use the same tactics as been for the past few weeks... Slow and go. Present it to the bottom so the fish can get it and take it, soft presentation as well. . The north end of the Mosquito Lagoon in the Oak Hill area has been great for red fish. Fly fishing in the New Smyrna Beach area has been hot! Hot Fish epic days for sure are every where with well placed flies. Maybe Santa will deliver some hand tied brown crab flies? You never know! A few more months until major tarpon fishing action! YES!
